THE WEATHER:
Situated in the Tennessee valley, at an altitude of 900 feet, between the Cumberland plateau
(3,000 feet high) and the Appalachian mountains (6,600 feet high) the weather of Knoxville is not
easy to predict ,but some try
anyway! The advantage of being so sheltered is that the annual average temperature is about 56
degrees and we experience all four seasons, with in particular beautiful fall colors.
The winter is relatively short, from January to mid-February,
with occasional snow falls of 1 to 3 inches. Total annual snow fall is about 12 inches. The earliest killing frosts
are in early November and the latest ones occur in early April.
We do not have a dry season and the average annual rain fall is 47 inches. In the summer the highs are in the
mid 80's to low 90's.
